Pearson airport boss Lou Turpen has shown a take-no-prisoners style during his eight-year push to redevelop the facility. 

But he maintains that often-abrasive strategy was essential in landing the $4.4 billion project as planned. 

"You have to lead from the top," says the 60-year-old Greater Toronto Airports Authority president. "That's why it's called `leadership,' as opposed to `follower-ship.' We demand complete focus and attention to what we're trying to accomplish. That's the only way you do something like this in 60 months."

Wood Creek Park Tree Planting
